Your demo is using a 2003 64-bit DC but my current domain controller is 2003 32-bit. Will this procedure also work if I wanted to add a new 2008R2 server, which is 64-bit?

Yes, but you need to use the 32 bit version of ADPREP – Adprep32.exe. It is located on the Windows 2008 R2 disk under:

D:\sources\adprep\Adprep32.exe
